  1. Regeneration – We believe the change which takes place in the heart and life at conversion is a very real, and we believe that change occurs from the inside out. This change is a result of an individual inviting Jesus Christ to become Lord and Master of their lives. The promised Holy Spirit then comes to indwell the heart of a believer, thereby making them a new creation in Christ. It is our mission at Solid Rock to proclaim this message and invite everyone to partake of new life in Christ.
  2. Spiritual Growth and Development – We believe every Christian should grow daily in their spiritual walk with Jesus Christ. Therefore, we teach principles of discipleship that will enable our students to grow as Christians. The believer’s walk consists of communion with God through prayer, and understanding His principals for sanctified living expounded in His most holy Word. Solid Rock makes growth and discipleship part of its corporate life through weekly Bible studies, spiritual worship, and prayer. We desire to be workers who are pleasing to God, and we take this spiritual overflow into the field and make it part of every course.
  3. Renewal – From time to time during His ministry, our Lord found it necessary to retire to a secluded place for prayer. Seasons of contemplation are vital to the Christian life. These seasons bring spiritual renewal that sharpens our focus and allows us to see clearly in this world. A Solid Rock course is an ideal context in which to equip, renew and refocus individuals through God’s creation and the Holy Spirit. Worldly distractions are all but eliminated. Complexities associated with a highly technological society are minimized. The student comes face to face with the physical manifestation of God’s presence in their lives – His majestic creation. We believe that this combination of solitude, contemplation, and divine manifestation create an encounter with the living God. And so we structure, pray, and plan for this divine encounter to occur, believing that these defining moments are capable of radically changing peoples’ lives.
  4. Stewardship – GGod has left us to steward the resources He has placed in His world. There are only a limited amount of these resources, which we must protect and preserve. SROM’s natural resources are wild places that are under increased pressures from an ever burgeoning society. It is disrespectful to leave litter and trash, put pollutants into drinking water, mar and desecrate the wilderness and generally to treat creation with disregard or contempt. Instead, we teach students how to travel lightly in the woods, and leave no sign of their passing. These principles of minimum-impact camping insures that resources are available for future generations. We take the principles of minimum impact camping seriously by teaching and practicing them with our students.
  5. Leadership – As God has used the wilderness as a classroom for teaching leadership, our students learn leadership skills on courses Apostles and prophets have been trained this way for thousands of years, and creation still furnishes an excellent classroom for teaching leadership skills today. Students must learn cooperation in order to work in small groups. Planning and decision making are an integral part of every course. In addition, discipline and personal sacrifice are necessary to achieve many of the physical objectives to which we aspire. Overcoming obstacles thought to be improbable or impossible instills self confidence in one’s abilities and allows people to overcome trepidation and fears. The Biblical model for leadership is servanthood and gifting. Each member of a group has a spiritual gift given to them by God. To know and understand this gift and how to use it as a servant is an important part of leadership development.
  6. Growth and Development – Solid Rock began with 12 back packs and a used van. It has grown significantly over the years. In 2008 is the Silver Anniversary marking 25 years of successful ministry. While we have touched thousands of lives during this time, our desire is to take this to the nations of the world and touch many thousands more. Our Silver Anniversary Capital Campaign will help launch us into the next 25 years by providing facility and program development that will allow us to serve more students. We want to expand our sphere of influence, and the tent pegs of our ministry, by securing additional user days in Wyoming and Colorado. We want to establish bases overseas in order to further our programming to indigenous peoples who can then train locals. And we want a base where American students can go to other countries for missions opportunities. We want to expand our operations to include spring and summer offerings in the southwestern United States. In order to increase our exposure we wish to have a means whereby we can travel to different regions of the country to meet and talk with college students, youth groups, home schoolers, and churches. Specifically, we want to provide a self contained mobile living unit for our sales representatives.
  7. Fulfillment of a Dream – In 1977 Drew Arnold was given a vision while studying for a Hebrew examination at Fuller Theological Seminary. In this vision he was taken up in the Spirit and shown lights in the United Stated and the world. He was told by God that there would be outdoor schools in all of these places. When he asked how this would happen, the Lord said, “If you get out of the way, I will show you what I can do.” In obedience to this vision Drew Arnold set out. He is now physically unable to go any further because he is partially paralyzed from the auto immune disease Multiple Screllosis. He is unable to walk, get out of bed, or dress himself. And while still very much alive and active, he spends his days confined to a wheel chair. He must depend upon persons like you to carry on the vision of the ministry – a vision that we believe has been given by God.
  8. Your Part – You can take part in helping carry on something that God has done and will continue to do for many years. You can have a stock in the fruits of this ministry that will return heavenly rewards. It is what we have done for Christ on this earth that remains (a little confusing). By being a partner with us you help to grow, develop, and maintain a work that God is using to change countless lives. Please give your prayer and consideration to the ways in which God leads you to participate in changing these lives. If you are able to give a gift of any size, we can assure you that it will be used to advance the Kingdom.
