SROM provides customizable wilderness courses for individuals, groups, organizations, and ministries. SROM will customize an experience that is tailored to the needs, time frame, desired outcomes, and specific activities of interest for each course. SROM custom courses specialize in providing a wilderness ministry experience that facilitates spiritual formation, community building, leadership development, and introduces wilderness skills. SROM custom courses are generally 1-7 days in length. SROM uses activities like rock climbing, rappelling, backpacking, and mountaineering to create opportunities for spiritual transformation, leadership development and outdoor skill acquisition. In the classroom of the Rocky Mountains or the Grand Canyon, participants on a custom course learn about unity, teamwork, communication, and the truth of God’s promises in the midst of challenge. Participants experience the presence of God in His creation.

Rocky Mountian Backpacking

SROM custom backpacking courses are designed to develop authentic community and leadership skills in a short time. The backpacking courses journey through the majestic beauty of God’s creation, promoting fellowship with fellow participants. Living in the wilderness, trekking through the mountains, and serving one another creates an environment for individuals to grow in their vertical relationship with Christ and in their horizontal relationship with one another. SROM Rocky Mountain backpacking courses are an excellent opportunity for personal growth and community development

Rocky Mountain Rock Climbing

Rock climbing is an exceptional means to safely push individuals beyond comfort zones and to stretch them past their paradigms of possibilities. The SROM rock climbing ministry experience challenges individuals to face and overcome fears, build trust in themselves and others, and grow in self confidence. Rock climbing often reveals the character of an individual and the dynamics of a group. Time spent rock climbing is often a catalyst for faith building, spiritual renewal, character formation, and community development.

Rocky Mountain Rock Climbing and Backpacking

The flagship custom course at SROM is a 6 -7 day rock climbing and backpacking course. Participants spend 3 days rock climbing and learning to live in the outdoors. An additional 3-4 days are spent backpacking and the course concludes with a hike to the top of a Rocky Mountain peak. This is one of the most impactful custom courses that SROM offers.

Grand Canyon Backpacking

Considered a natural wonder of the world and a jewel of God’s creation in the American southwest, the Grand Canyon is magnificent and awe-inspiring. The canyon reflects the power, majesty, creativity, and beauty of God. A backpacking experience in this setting is unforgettable. Custom courses in the Grand Canyon consist of several days hiking below the canyon rim through the many geologic layers and habitats of the canyon before eventually arriving at Colorado River. Participants pass by hidden creeks in the canyon and camp along streams in the desert. These streams provide an oasis throughout the trip where flowers, birds, trees and animals thrive in the desert climate. This course provides opportunities for community growth, leadership development, and spiritual renewal.
