Programming
Accreditation with the AEE means that SROM meets the highest standards in the industry for programming. Every aspect of programming is approved and held accountable through the AEE. Furthermore, we ask the Lord to guide each detail of course itineraries, student admission, and staff selection. Our core values define our priorities for each course: Spiritual Transformation, Leadership Development, and Outdoor Education/Wilderness Skills. Lastly, due to the variety of course offerings, we are able to serve a diverse population of people ages 13 and up.
Spiritual Transformation
Spiritual Transformation is the number one priority of any course. The details of our courses are shaped by this desire to allow and create opportunity for the Lord to move in students’ lives. Creation speaks for itself. Instructors are discipled, trained, and encouraged in their personal walk with Christ. Time is set aside each day to spend in the Word or worship and prayer, both individually and corporately. Devotionals are prepared for specific courses according to student feedback and needs. Ultimately, running the race mile after mile, beside others who are pursuing Christ, will challenge you, change you and grow your relationship with the Creator.
Leadership Development
Leadership Development is the natural overflow and intentional focus of our courses. We are all about servant leadership; serving and loving others as Christ did. We also believe wholeheartedly in hands-on training. Students will be given time to observe and practice skills, and then will be asked to apply them through a leadership role in the group. This applies to all skills: discipleship and leading devotionals, leading groups of people, and backcountry skills.
Outdoor Education/Wilderness Skills
Outdoor Education/Wilderness Skills will be acquired daily. Skills are taught sequentially and experientially. The 40/40 course covers more hard skills than a number of other industry instructor training courses. Students will leave our courses confident in skills such as decision making, choosing best route of travel, group dynamics and relationship, navigation, backcountry cooking/living and camp site selection.
Course Selection
Another way that SROM exceeds programming standards is in the area of course selection. We offer courses that vary in duration, geographical location, and focus of skills. There are courses just for women, high school students, young professionals and men. The acquisition of hard skills varies from basic backpacking and climbing to multi-pitch climbs and class 2 or AI 1 mountaineering. There are Open Enrollment courses and courses customized to the needs of specific groups and organizations. We work with individuals and the Holy Spirit to promote growth, opportunity and relationship with the Creator of the universe./p>
Our customized courses allow us to serve diverse populations of people. We work with at-risk youth, youth groups, individuals from all walks and seasons of life, universities, and Christian organizations. Check out the amazing opportunities available on a SROM course. Courses
